We were very pleased to open the doors of our historic Grade II listed office building in Godalming to an enthusiastic group from the Cranleigh & District U3A Towns and Villages History Group for a private guided tour earlier this week https://u3asites.org.uk/cranleigh/home.
The building has been Dendro-dated by the Surrey Archaeological Society to 1557, the last year of the reign of Queen Mary, and was found during the SAS’s study to be the oldest house in Surrey built with a chimney. This and many other interesting details were shared by our Director Richard Sloman.
Although these tours normally only take place during the Heritage Open Day weekend, the fact that the group included Richard’s mum got them through the door!
