"Conservation officers will only allow extensions that look like the original building."
❌ Incorrect!
In fact, most Conservation Officers are open to well-designed, sympathetic modern additions that complement, rather than replicate, the original structure. The key is that the new extension should not overwhelm the historic building, but a direct copy is seldom required.
