Traditional Architecture: new build Arts and Crafts style house

We are very happy for our clients who are delighted with the finished result of this recently completely beautiful traditional style new build house in Elmbridge, Surrey.

Following the demolition of the previous house, our brief was to create a new home in a traditional 1930’s Arts and Crafts style to replicate the style of the original houses in the area order to make it look as if it has always been there. The design incorporates fair faced stock red brickwork, black stained solid timber framing with rendered infill and traditional handmade plain clay roof tiles and tile hanging.

To the rear we have incorporated a contemporary flat roofed kitchen element, designed to look like a modern extension which allows the inclusion of modern, highly glazed sliding doors which were part of the brief but would have looked incongruous with the Arts and Crafts style. The modern element also architecturally links the house with the pool house which, whilst reading as a stand-a-lone building, is cleverly accessed from the main house internally through a linking basement which houses gym, changing rooms, games room and wine room.
